Inspiration for my wild waves paintings
I am a keen paddle boarder so I am often out on the sea enjoying the water and waves. I have a fascination with the sea and weather conditions and have experienced firsthand the ability for it to change from calm to stormy in an instant, often catching people off guard. The wild tiger wave represents the ferocious roar and wild perilous sea, often battering the crew of vessels or the lone sailor.  I try to convey energy and danger, the thrill and excitement of being on the open sea, sometimes alone just oneself against nature. When the weather and sea conditions are wild, the waves threaten to engulf those near but also act as protection keeping the vessel and crew afloat carrying them safely home.
I work in acrylics and depending on my mood I will choose bold striking colours or at other times I prefer a simplistic black and white or just a two colour effect, using the colours themselves to produce various other shades.  I like to portray energy and movement in my paintings combing elements of abstract and realism. Like the waves I paint, I work quickly and spontaneously to blend the paints into each other.
